JAFAR T. KAKI

was born in in Khanaquín on April 7, 1951.
His father was photographer and his eldest brother taught him to colour photography.
By the age of 15 he was already technically skilled in colour black and white photography.
He go on developing this skills working on his father’s studio.
After he finished his paint studies in the University of Baghdad,
he began to work as official illustrator of journalism in the Ministry of Culture in Baghdad.
He left that job to move to Spain in 1979 when he established in Madrid.
A few years ago he welcome spanish nationality.

1972-1976           Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Baghdad (Specialized in Painting).

1980-1984           Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts (Specialized in Painting and Engraving) at the San Fernando Faculty of Fine Arts

1984-1986           Completing the Doctorate courses at the San Fernano Faculty in Madrid, Spain.
1989                      Invited to instruct the course "Creative technics of chalcographic engraving " in the Escuela de Verano
Internacional de Gravado in Calella, Barcelona, Spain.
1991                      Invited to instruct chalcographic engraving in "Gráfica 91" in the International University Menéndez Pelayo,
U.I.M.P.Betanzos, La Coruña, Spain.
1992- 93               Journey to Paris, visiting the studio Hayter and the studio Lacouriere.

1995                      Scholarship from the Foundation Joan Miró at Mallorca of the program "Pilar Juncosa and   Sotheby´s";
there he works in the workshops.                          

1997                      Invited to instruct the internat. course of "Gráfica 97", XIII Summer Courses, Betanzos.

                               Invited to instruct chalcocragfic engraving at the 250 Goya anniversary in Fuendetodos, Zaragoza, Spain.                                              

1998                      Invited by the Princeton University to participate at the Conference
"Cultural Creation and Change in Arab Societies at the End of the Twentieth Century", Granada, Spain.

1999                      Invited to the International Festival of Plastic Art, Mahares, Tunez.

2001                      First ceramics works in the studio of the expert Olivia Vega Celiu,Sta.Ponsa, Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

2002                      Teacher in the C.I.E.C. Foundation, Betanzos, La Coruña, Spain.
